After a year, I’m back in the car, heading toward Biocentrum Mokroš, one of my favorite swampy areas near the village of Mořice. Today, I’m here for an epic couple photoshoot I’ve been eagerly anticipating.
It all started last year when Jolka messaged me about her and Ben’s 35th wedding anniversary. She explained they didn’t have any photos from their wedding day and wanted to recreate the magic by taking pictures in wedding attire. She asked if I’d be interested and available to do the shoot. Without hesitation, I said yes!
A Connection Through Family
I already knew Jolka and Ben a little bit because I’ve photographed their children on several occasions. Their daughter regularly comes to me for family photos, and one time, Jolka and Ben joined in. Years ago, I also documented their son’s wedding when he married my high school (and later university) classmate.
At first, it took me a while to piece everything together and realize how interconnected their family was, but once I did—#MindBlown—it all made sense! When Jolka and I started planning, I sent her several location ideas. Secretly, I was hoping she’d pick Biocentrum Mokroš, my favorite spot. And guess what? She did! The swampy landscape and mystical vibe intrigued her, just as it had captured my heart when I first discovered it.
A Tradition Was Born
The photoshoot was pure magic. Jolka and Ben are the kind of couple you can’t help but admire—full of laughter, spontaneity, and a love so real it inspires everyone around them. Honestly, they’re the kind of duo you wish everyone could find in life. During that first shoot, we came up with the idea of returning to the same spot every year to take comparison photos. This year, we did just that! At the same time of year, we returned to Mokroš, and it was just as incredible as the first time. The shoot was filled with laughter, fun, and love—just like last year. I’m so grateful they chose me for such an important milestone and that we’ve continued this beautiful tradition. I can’t wait for what the future holds and the memories we’ll create in the years to come!
