Castle Luka nad Jihlavou: Tattooes, wind & cat visitor
Castle Luka nad Jihlavou, with its beautiful English park, is a stunning Baroque building dating back to 1747. The current castle stands on the grounds of an earlier structure, destroyed during the Thirty Years’ War. In 1834, an English-style park was added, replacing three former farmsteads. At present, the castle is privately owned, which limits access—though hopefully, this will change in the future. The castle holds special meaning for Anna and Petr, as it’s where Anna’s parents were married years ago. So, it’s no surprise that they chose this place for their own nontraditional wedding, full of love and tattoos. Despite the late September date, the weather was absolutely perfect—neither too hot nor too cold. The wind was strong at times, but the most important thing was that it didn’t rain, which had been everyone’s main concern. In the end, everything turned out beautifully; no one froze, and the bride didn’t blow away.
The Wedding Morning
The wedding Saturday started with the usual preparations. This time, I only documented the bride’s side of the preparations, as the groom was getting ready elsewhere. Although I was a bit disappointed by that, our girls’ morning (with only the bride’s brother and the videographer present) was filled with its own charm. The atmosphere was calm, and preparations began quietly with hairstyling. It was early in the morning, and no one in our group spoke much.
I didn’t even realize the silence until Kačka, the hairstylist, pointed it out. We all agreed that sometimes, silence is a welcome change—especially when moms are involved. During this time, the videographer and I went to capture the wedding venue, which was simply beautiful.
Incredible Atmosphere… and the Wind
Shortly after, the guests began to arrive at the castle, buzzing with excitement for the ceremony. When it began, it was emotional, full of love, and yet lighthearted and sweet—perfect, with the castle as a stunning backdrop. Thankfully, the weather cooperated, or it would have been a shame to move everything indoors. After the ceremony, there was a flurry of congratulations and group photos. The couple looked stunning, and the atmosphere was filled with joy.

Dancing, Laughter and Cat Visitor
Once the ceremony was over, the guests were invited to explore the wedding venue, where Anna’s mom had carefully decorated everything with lovely autumn touches. The tiny pumpkins scattered around were absolutely adorable! The party kicked off soon after, with games and fun, and even a local cat joined the celebration, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. As the evening continued, the energy picked up with dancing and laughter. This tattooed wedding in Vysočina was the perfect way to close my 2023 season!
