When Rainy Day Turns into Stunning Maternity Shoot

Originally, we had planned this maternity photoshoot in a completely different location. Due to unforeseen circumstances and the weather, we stumbled upon a truly breathtaking spot – St. John’s Church near Modrá, just outside Velehrad. This peaceful corner of the countryside turned out to be the perfect backdrop for our maternity shoot.

A Change of Plans — From Rain to a Beautiful Hidden Gem

Klárka and Lukáš had originally chosen a lovely natural spot in Kroměříž for their session. It seemed ideal for capturing their special moments. However, on the morning of the photoshoot, Klárka messaged me to say it was pouring rain at their place. She suggested heading toward Modrá, where a charming wooden gazebo could provide shelter. The gazebo sounded like a great backup plan. It had a roof and would keep us dry. I had no objections, so we agreed to meet there. On our way to the location, something amazing happened – the rain stopped! By the time we arrived, the skies were clear. We decided to explore the area further in search of an even more interesting spot.

Discovering the St. John’s Church

That’s when we found it. A short walk from where we parked, we came across a stunning church – St. John’s Church, surrounded by serene countryside. It was absolutely gorgeous. The area was peaceful and picturesque, like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. We knew immediately this would be the perfect location. Unexpected changes often lead to the best results, and this was no exception. Although our original plan had to be altered, this spot turned out to be even better. I’m confident it was the perfect choice for Klárka and Lukáš’s maternity session.

Why Improv and Flexibility Matter

I love these spontaneous moments during photoshoots. While careful planning is important, surprises often lead to magical results. Flexibility is key, especially when weather or circumstances change. Adapting can uncover unique and stunning locations, like we experienced with St. John’s Church. What began as a rainy morning transformed into one of the most memorable photoshoots I’ve had. The combination of a surprising location, breathtaking scenery, and Klárka and Lukáš’s positive energy made it truly special. Stepping off the beaten path and embracing the unexpected was absolutely worth it.
