Sedlec Mill: A Czech-Slovak Wedding in the Heart of South Moravia
In the heart of the wine region, between Mikulov and the Lednice-Valtice area, lies the Sedlec Mill — a unique venue offering the perfect atmosphere for your wedding or any special event. Not only will you be welcomed by friendly and professional service, but the incredibly cozy ambiance will also make you feel right at home. It’s definitely one of those places where you’ll instantly feel comfortable. Just a few steps from the mill grounds, you’ll find beautiful ponds, perfect for your newlywed photos. This is always an advantage! If you’re craving a slightly different environment, a few minutes’ drive away, you can explore various landmarks that the Lednice-Valtice area offers. For example, one of my favorites, the absolutely stunning Reistna Colonnade which is just a ten-minute drive from the venue.

Stunning Bride, Epic Preparations, and Moments full of Emotions
A wedding in South Moravia with a natural style simply calls for a venue like this, which Katy and Robert chose for their Czech-Slovak wedding. These two programmers, whose love story is full of “fateful coincidences” — from their first meeting to the fact that they have two cats named Zero and Memory (how clever is that?) — made this day even more memorable.
And what a wedding it was! The entire September day was filled with calmness and joy. The bride’s preparations were marked by a true girls’ day out with prosecco. Laughter and jokes paused for a moment when Katy started putting on her wedding dress, which left everyone, including me, in awe. She looked absolutely GORGEOUS in the wedding gown she chose at the Nicole bridal salon, designed by Iryna Kotapska. To top it off, she added a stunning, glittering veil from Poirier, which added a perfect finishing touch — and, of course, I had a blast taking pictures with that long train and even longer veil from Poirier.
On the other hand, the groom’s preparations were all about the guys having a blast. Robert was helped by his awesome brother and, of course, his father, because it wouldn’t be the same without him. Putting on the suit was filled with laughter, epic one-liners, and, to seal the deal, they shared a toast together.
A Night Full of Fun and Dancing
The ceremony location was just a short walk from the restaurant. The stunning views of the nearby ponds gave off a bit of a coastal vibe. The wedding ceremony itself was absolutely incredible. Despite the rather intense sunshine that was, at times, a bit blinding, the ceremony was perfect. The officiant, Juraj, was sensational — full of humor, insightful details about the couple, and even played the guitar. It was truly unique. It was fun, a bit crazy, and just perfect. The vows also added to the excitement when the couple delivered a monologue about love from Star Trek. I absolutely love when couples incorporate personal elements or interests into their weddings, no matter how big or small.
After the ceremony, we immediately jumped into group photos, which went by smoothly. Then the reception began, followed by a great party. After the usual formalities with toasts, congratulations, and first coffees, the cake cutting took place. The cake, provided by Sladko Brno, was a total cutie and won the title of the most beautiful wedding cake of the 2023 season! It was simply gorgeous — minimalistic yet decorated beautifully and, most importantly, absolutely delicious. The rest of the evening continued with wedding games, the photo booth in full swing, and plenty of Borovička flowing. The wedding ended in a huge party, filled with dancing, laughter, and joy.
Two meters seven vs. one meter sixty-five
This wedding was also marked by the height difference between Katy and Rob. Yes, Katy and Rob are tall — very tall. I must admit, I didn’t really notice it much during the pre-wedding photoshoot. They’re just tall people. But at the wedding, I definitely felt the height difference more (especially when I was congratulating the groom, standing next to his breast pocket — haha). And when I looked at a photo of us together, I couldn’t stop laughing. Yep, it’s pretty obvious!
