Llamas & balloons at Resort Chobot

Resort Chobot isn’t just a place with a funny name — it’s also the perfect hidden gem for your wedding or any kind of event. Tucked away in the middle of nowhere in the Central Bohemian Region, it offers a peaceful escape surrounded by nature. Think silence, greenery, a cute pond, and total privacy. Add to that some seriously good food and you’ve got yourself a solid event location. In June, I headed over there to capture one beautiful wedding. It was a shorter gig — just a half-day shoot, but full of moments, emotions, and all the good stuff. Plus, I even ran into a videographer I’d worked with just a few months before on a commercial project. Small world, right?

Getting ready in the cutest wooden cabins

Like most weddings, the day kicked off with getting ready. One thing I absolutely loved about Resort Chobot was the adorable wooden cabins used for accommodation — and also for the pre-ceremony prep. I started with the groom, because, let’s face it — guys usually don’t take forever. Suit on, quick double-check in the mirror, and done. That left him plenty of time to greet the arriving guests while his bride-to-be was still in hair and makeup. His parents helped him get ready, and the whole vibe was super warm and genuine.

Then I moved on to the bride in a neighboring cabin. She was surrounded by her mom and sister, and the energy there was completely different — soft, calm, and full of love. You could feel how close they were. And seriously, her hair? Absolute goals. Still not jealous. Not at all.

Ceremony on the lawn

The ceremony took place on a cozy patch of lawn right within the resort grounds. The only hiccup? A cars happened to be parked right behind the ceremony space, which wasn’t ideal for photos — but hey, life happens. Even with the summer sun blazing overhead, the atmosphere stayed light and happy. Everyone was in the moment. The vows were emotional, the guests were smiling the whole time, and the bride and groom looked like they were in their own little world. It was one of those ceremonies that felt completely personal, not overly formal — just right.

Let the fun begin: food, frinks, and all the good vibes

After the “I do’s,” the party vibes kicked in. Long tables were set up under the trees, filled with food that made people stop mid-conversation just to say, “Wow, this is so good.” There was a relaxed, family-style atmosphere that made everyone feel welcome, whether they were old friends or just meeting for the first time. People were lounging with drinks in hand, kids were playing barefoot on the grass, and the music added just enough energy without taking over the moment. Laughter echoed from every direction — over toasts, clinking glasses, and spontaneous dancing in the shade. These are the parts of the day that often don’t make the timeline, but they are the wedding.

A midday adventure (featuring a llamas and one very bold ostrich)

Later in the afternoon, the videographer and I took the newlyweds out for a quick couple shoot in the nearby nature. No golden hour here — just that bright, direct summer sun you can’t escape in July. But the couple totally rolled with it, and we ended up with some fun, relaxed shots that felt true to the day. After wandering through a few quiet spots just outside the resort, we stumbled upon a s — why not make the most of it? We thought it might add a playful touch to the photos.

Well… “playful” turned into chaotic real fast. One extremely curious ostrich decided to investigate the bride (and got way too close for comfort), while a llama took a solid interest in her wedding bouquet—and tried to eat it. Everyone was laughing, including the couple, and it made for some seriously unexpected but unforgettable memories. After surviving the animal encounter, it was time for cake. And not just any cake — this one was full of character and creativity.

Since this was a half-day shoot for me, I packed up shortly after that. But even in just a few hours, the day had given me so much to capture. Genuine emotions, gorgeous details, hilarious animal drama  basically, everything you want from a summer wedding. If you’re dreaming of a relaxed, nature-filled wedding with a bit of quirk and a lot of heart, Resort Chobot is definitely one to check out. It’s the kind of place where memories happen naturally — and you might just make a new furry friend along the way.
