In the quiet village of Lukov near Zlín lies Restaurant Tuskulum, a true gem of a wedding venue. On the first Saturday of July 2023, I visited this extraordinary location for Kačka and Jirka’s special day. Tuskulum is a beautifully renovated aristocratic villa in Tyrolean style. With its spacious halls, cozy atmosphere, and serene surroundings, it’s a dream location for any celebration.
The venue offers a unique combination of elegance and privacy, perfect for those seeking a peaceful yet impressive setting. Despite its proximity to the village, the calmness and intimacy here are unmatched. The family-run nature of the venue enhances the experience, making you feel welcomed and at home. The large hall is perfect for hosting bigger guest lists, leaving plenty of room for both dining and dancing. A huge shoutout goes to the exceptional staff, who worked tirelessly to ensure everything went smoothly.
An Unforgettable Day Full of Joy
Kačka and Jirka’s wedding day was one for the books. The atmosphere was filled with love, laughter, and a sense of togetherness. From the emotional morning preparations to the vibrant evening celebrations, every moment was truly special.
A funny and memorable highlight was when Jirka, taking my instructions to let me know when he was “halfway ready” quite literally, appeared in a half-dressed state—making us all laugh. Moments like these gave the day its charming, personal touch.
The weather also played its part beautifully. Early July can bring intense heat, but we were blessed with a perfect summer day that was warm without being overwhelming—just the right conditions for an outdoor celebration.
Tuskulum: A Hidden Tyrolean-Style Treasure
As a photographer, capturing Kačka and Jirka’s love story was an absolute delight. The couple was open to my location ideas for portraits, allowing me to fully unleash my creativity. Kačka looked stunning in her wedding dress from Pilar Bridal Salon (formerly Hanna Zlín). The gown was a masterpiece, transforming her into a vision of a forest fairy. Pilar’s dresses are renowned for their elegance, and this one was no exception—it was nothing short of breathtaking. Their chemistry and connection were so beautiful that I found myself wanting to keep photographing them endlessly. Watching and documenting their love was truly inspiring.
The day’s magic didn’t end with the ceremony. Guests were treated to an enchanting performance by the folk band Včelaran, whose music brought energy and joy to the celebration. Their repertoire delighted guests across generations, adding an unforgettable musical touch to the day. As night fell, the party kicked into high gear. The dance floor was alive with energy, laughter, and celebration, making it a perfect conclusion to an already incredible day.
A Milestone Moment
This wedding will always hold a special place in my heart. It wasn’t just the incredible venue or the joyous celebration—it was also my final wedding of the 2023 season before going on maternity leave. Being part of Kačka and Jirka’s love story as a “2‑in‑1” photographer was an unforgettable experience.
