Statek Vletice: Queer wedding in the middle of September
In mid-September, I made a little trip to Central Bohemia — straight to Statek Vletice. This place is honestly awesome. It’s about an hour from Prague, yet completely tucked away in the middle of nowhere. The venue has everything you and your guests could possibly need, and it’s incredibly peaceful. And yes, there’s even a pool for a proper late-night wedding party and some chaotic jumping into it, haha. I was heading there for a truly special wedding.
The college joke that actually came true
“Remember back in college when we joked, that one day you’d be shooting my wedding?” This message landed on my phone months ago and that’s where it all began. Well, not exactly… It actually started several years earlier. When I was a few kilos lighter and Robin was Eliška. Back in college. Yep, it’s true. My college roommate and buddy got married!
This queer wedding just hit differently
And I still get emotional thinking about it. Shooting a friend’s wedding always feels different. It’s more personal, more emotional, more real. And this queer wedding was exactly that. The whole day had an effortless vibe. No stress, no rushing, no posing. Just love, calm energy, a lot of laughter, and of course our usual questionable humor. Because even after all these years, Robin and I are still the same crazy duo we were in college. And the dogs. So many dogs. Which, if you know me… is a massive win, haha.
Laughter, tears and a party to remember
I swear I spent half the day either wiping happy tears or laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe. These are the moments I live for as a wedding photographer. The unscripted ones. The authentic ones. And yes… I’m shocked I managed to take any photos, hah. By the time the sun went down, Statek Vletice turned into a full-on queer wedding party. Great music, great people, killer atmosphere — the kind of night nobody forgets.
Statek Vletice — the perfect venue for a relaxed wedding
Statek Vletice has something special going for it: atmosphere. Nothing flashy, nothing forced — just a naturally beautiful space that works incredibly well for queer weddings and trans weddings. You get privacy, great light, cozy corners for portraits, and a laid-back vibe that lets people be themselves. For this wedding, it fit perfectly. From the slow, easy morning to the wild dance floor at night, everything felt exactly how it was supposed to.
Why I love shooting queer weddings
These celebrations are often incredibly authentic and unique, reflecting the true selves of the couple. But beyond that, it’s a real privilege for me because I know firsthand the fears and challenges many queer people face. Even today, it’s not always easy to be queer. Many hesitate to reach out to vendors or feel nervous about their big day being accepted. So being trusted to capture these moments — to document their love and courage — is a deep honor. It’s more than just photography; it’s a celebration of authenticity, bravery, and love that breaks barriers.
